우리에게 007시리즈 옥토퍼스의 주제가 All Time High와 CM송으로 더 친숙한 Rita Coolidge는 알고 보면 굉장히 오래전부터 활동하던 가수이다.
그녀는 그녀의 이름을 딴 'Rita Coolidge'라는 앨범으로 1971년 데뷔하여 어느새 30년이 넘는 경력의 가수이다. 그녀의 대표곡으로는 'I'd Rather Leave While I'm in Love'를 들수 있는데 이곡은 드봉 이지업의 CM송으로 쓰이기도 했다. (My Music 자료 펌)
백인 목사 아버지와 북미 체로키 인디언 어머니사이네서 태어난 리타는 에릭 클립턴과 죠 카커의 백 보컬로 활동하다가 1969년 'Turn Around And Love U'를 발표함으로써 세상에 알려지게되었다.
1975년 영화배우이며 칸트리 싱어인 '크리스 크리스토퍼슨' 과 결혼하였다.
그녀의 음악적 특징은 자신의 혈통을 의식해서인지 북미 인디언 음악을 퓨전화시켜 모던 포크 스타일과 혼합한 독특한 사운드를 끊임없이 시도하고 있다.
