카펜터스는 미국의 팝아티스트로 유명한 그룹이다. 카펜터스는 남매그룹으로 오빠 리처드카펜터와 여동생 카렌카펜터 듀엣그룹 으로서  고등학교때 밴드를 결성해서 활동했던 오빠 리처드 권유로    여동생 카렌과 함께 카펜터즈의 그룹이 본격적인 활동을 하기 시작하였다. 그러나 1983년 카렌의 안타까운 죽음을 마지막으로 카펜터스의 활동은 중단되었다. 카펜터스의 활동은 더 이상 볼 수 없지만, 우리에게 감미로운 많은 음악을 선물해주었던 그룹이다.
