엘비스는 생전에 두장의 가스펠 앨범을 출반했는데 그 가운데 하나가 이앨범(동명타이틀) 이며 또 하나는 무명시절인 선레코드사에서 칼퍼킨스, 제리 리 루이스 자니캐쉬 등과 함께 취입했던 것으로 25년후에나 발매가 되었다. 엘비스는 퇴페적인 노래만을 부른다는 소리를 일축하는 듯 엘비스는 정중하게, 그리고 장엄하게 이 노래를 불렀는데 이곡은 찬송가 40장에 수록된 '주하나님 지으신 모든세계' 이다. 이찬송가 40장 'How Great Thou Art' 는 스웨덴어로 "O, Store Gud"라는 제목의 노래인데, 이 노래는 1886년 Pastor Carl Boberg라는 사람이 스웨덴의 서남해안을 여행하던 중에 종교적인 영감을 받아 지은 시를 가사로 했다. 그는 여행 중에 대낮에 갑자기 천둥번개와 비바람을 만나서 잠시 심한 공포에 사로잡히는데, 잠시후 맑아져서 다시 눈부신 햇빛이 나오고 숲에서는 새들의 노래소리가 들려온다. 그는 즉시 그 자리에 무릎 꿇어 전능하신 하나님께 겸허한 기도를 드렸고, 나중에 그 기억을 되살려 9편의 시를 쓴다. 몇 년후 그는 어느 교회 집회에서 자신의 시에 스웨덴의 오랜 민요 선율이 붙어 노래로 불리우는 것을 듣게 된다. 후에 그 가사는 여러 나라 말로 번역되었고, 빌리 그래함 목사의 전도 집회에서 George Beverly Shea에 의해 자주 불리워져서 세계화된 성가이다.
