아일랜드계 남자 5인조 보컬 그룹이며 멤버는 1967년생인 죠지 도날드슨(George Donaldson), 1979년생인 폴 바이롬(Paul Byrom), 1978년생인 라이언 켈리(Ryan Kelly), 1986년생인 케이스 하킨(Keith Harkin), 그리고 막내인 다미안 맥긴티(Damian McGinty) 1992년생으로 Take me home에서 보여주는 18세의 멋진 바리톤 음색으로 성장한 모습이 언제봐도 대견한.. 그룹명에 "켈틱"이 들어가서 이들의 음악이 켈틱음악이라는 생각을 하기 쉽지만 아일랜드 출신이라는 것과 레퍼토리에 켈틱음악이 몇 곡 들어간다는 점을 빼고는 이들의 음악에서 켈틱 요소를 찾아보기 힘들 정도로 다양한 장르를 소화하며 주 전공은 전통 팝에 가까운 음악을 한다. 켈틱 썬더는 솔로와 앙상블을 절충하는 식으로 연주하며 켈틱썬더의 음악 디렉터를 맡고 있는 필 콜터(Phil Coulter)가 지휘하는 켈틱 콘서트 오케스트라가 반주를 맡고있다. 이들의 라이브쇼는 적절한 조명과 안무, 켈틱풍의 고대 돌길을 연상시키는 특수무대장치 등을 이용하여 드라마틱한 효과를 내는 걸로 알려져있다. 스튜디오 앨범은 아직 발표한 적이 없으며 주로 쇼 라이브 CD와 DVD를 판매한다. 2008년 3월 켈틱 썬더는 PBS 텔레비젼 네트웍을 통해 1,200번 이상 미국 전역에 방송되었으며 5월과 6월 동안 그룹의 멤버들은 그들의 쇼를 진행하면서 십여개 지방방송과 인터뷰를 하였다. 현재 미주 지역을 중심으로 활발하게 활동 중인데 우리나라에는 정식으로 소개된 적이 없는 그룹이다.
