synth rock(신스 락)이 유행을 선두하던 1980년대, pat benaeter(팻 베네티)와 덜불어 페미니즘 운동인  riot grl(라이어트 걸)의 만개에 일조했던 laura branigan(로라 브래니건), 그녀는 1982년 발표한 첫 앨범 (branigan)실린  "Gloria"를 대히트시키며 프레티넘 판매고를 기록하는 짜릿한 성과를 거둔다.  이렇게 80년대를 주름잡던 브레니건은 안타깝게도 47세라는 젊은 나이로 2004년 8월,자택에서 숨을 거두고만다
