How Great Thou Art  詩 칼 보버그    曲 스웨덴 민요  (가톨릭 성가 제2번 - 주 하느님 크시도다 /  찬송가 제40장 - 주 하나님 지으신 모든 세계)

이 노래는 1886년 Pastor Carl Boberg(1859?1940)라는 사람이 스웨덴의 서남해안을 여행하던 중에 종교적인 영감을 받아 지은 詩를 가사로 했다. 그는 여행 중에 대낮에 갑자기 천둥번개와 비바람을 만나서 잠시 심한 공포에 사로잡히는데, 잠시 후 맑아져서  다시 눈부신 햇빛이 나오고 숲에서는 새들의 노랫소리가 들려온다. 그는 즉시 그 자리에 무릎 꿇어 전능하신 하나님께 겸허한 기도를 드렸고, 나중에 그 기억을 되살려 9편의 詩를 쓴다. 몇 년 후 그는 어느 교회 집회에서 자신의 詩에 스웨덴의 오랜 민요 선율이 붙어 노래로 불리어지는 것을 듣게 된다. 후에 그 가사는 여러 나라 말로 번역되었고,  빌리 그래함 목사의 전도 집회에서  George Beverly Shea에 의해 자주 불리워져서 세계화된 노래다.
