레슬리 고어(Lesley Gore, 1946 ~ 2015) - 미국의 가수, 작곡가, 배우 ,여성운동가로 활동했다. 1963년 머큐리를 통해 데뷔했다. 이후 “It‘s My Party”를 시작으로 “Judy’s Turn to Cry”, “She‘s a Fool”, “You Don’t Own Me”, “Maybe I Know”, “California Nights” 등 수많은 곡을 히트시켰다. 용모도 아름다워 영화 ‘비치 걸’, ‘비트퍼레이드’ 등에 출연하기도 하였다. 2015년 2월 16일 뉴욕대 병원에서 폐암으로 숨졌다. You don't own me 레슬리 고어(Lesley Gore)는 1960년대 많은 인기를 누렸던 가수다.   이 곡은 비틀즈의 아성을 넘기지는 못했지만 빌보드 차트 2위에 오르기도 했고, 그래미 명예의 전당에도 올랐다. 이 곡은 Ray Charles부터 Michael Jackson까지 오랜 시간 많은 R&B/Pop 히트 곡을 만들어 온 Quincy Jones가 프로듀서였다고 한다.

60년대의 영국 여가수로는 드믈게 영국, 미국 Pop계에 큰 자취를 남긴 더스틴 스프링필드입니다. 이 노래는 1964년 더스틴의 영국 및 미국에서 데뷰 힛트작으로 , 그후 많은 후배 가수들 - Bay City Rollers, Samantha Fox 등이 카버로 불러 역시 인기 있었던 곡이다. 참고로 그녀가 1966년도불렀던 "You Don't Have To Say You Love Me" 미국 빌보드 4위 까지 올랐으며 ,  엘비스 프레슬리도 다시 불러 70년도 팝챠트 11위까지 했다
