1945년 Scott Wiseman이 발표한 country song이지만  country song 계보로는 처음으로 팝의 영역에서까지 유명해진 곡중의 하나로 Rick Nelson, Elvis presley, Jim Leeves, Cliff Richard, Marty Robbins등 수많은 가수들에 의해 발표된 곡이다.  이곡과 같은 제목의 Rod Stewart의 곡은 1989년 Van Morrison이 만든 것으로 제목도 Have I Told You Lately로 Wiseman의 곡과는 서로 다른 곡이다. 또 이곡은 우리나라에서는 양희은이 부른 "내가 전에 말했쟌아요" 와  김씨네가 부른 "터질거예요" 같은 곡으로 국내에서도 큰 히트를 친 곡이다.
